The Kern County District Attorney’s Office moved to dismiss all charges alleged against Mr. Caleb Michael Bland at the preliminary hearing scheduled for today’s date. The District Attorney’ Office moved for dismissal of four counts alleging that Mr. Bland had knowingly received stolen property and two counts alleging that Mr. Bland had contributed to the delinquency of a minor.

The sole witnesses against Mr. Bland were two juveniles who were suspected of committing at least seven residential burglaries in the Rosedale area during the year of 2008. The statements made by the juveniles incriminating Mr. Bland were made after their involvement in the burglaries had been uncovered by the Bakersfield Police Department. We have not been able to ascertain if any charges have been sought against the juveniles for their involvement in breaking and entering into innocent people’s homes.

An evaluation of the case by the District Attorney’s Office in preparation for the preliminary examination led to the dismissal of all charges against Mr. Bland. Mr. Bland has maintained his innocence from the initiation of this investigation and is glad to have been exonerated and to have his good name restored.

BNT Note -- Bland is the owner of Movement Ride Shop at 10530 Rosedale Highway. A search of his case on the Kern County Superior Court Web site shows that all charges against him were dismissed Wednesday.
