Attorney Jared Thompson of The Law Offices of Kyle J. Humphrey recently
obtained a dismissal of two felony charges regarding a woman who allegedly
threw a packet of prescription pills to her husband during his murder
trial in 2014.
The Bakersfield Californian reported on the trial in which prosecutors alleged that the woman wrapped
certain prescription pills in plastic and threw them to her husband who
was sitting at the defense table.
The judge was not yet in the courtroom but was notified immediately. The
package was examined, and it allegedly included prescription drugs. As
a result, the woman was arrested on two felony charges: attempting to
give drugs to an inmate and attempting to transport drugs.
Attorney Jared Thompson was swift to show that these pills were never analyzed by the senior deputy
or the regional crime lab and it was therefore impossible to prove what
these pills actually contained. As a result, Jared Thompson moved that
the case should rightfully be dismissed. The judge concurred.
