Meet Attorney Kyle J. Humphrey
Former Prosecutor - Over 200 Jury Trials to Verdict

Mr. Humphrey has lived in Bakersfield since 1986 when he followed family to the Central Valley. He found a career here starting as a prosecutor including murders and sex crimes as well as most misdemeanors and felonies. Mr. Humphrey moved to the defense side in 1993.

Mr. Humphrey believes that his prosecutorial experience prepared him to become an exceptional defense lawyer. He learned to play offense first and has learned to defend against every move from the other side. Mr. Humphrey believes that when defending your client, you must be able to prove your case. It is not enough to know how to be a shield, you must know how to be a sword as well.

Mr. Humphrey is a State Bar recognized criminal defense expert. He has provided training to other defense attorneys. He continues to participate in ongoing education to maintain his expert status and to help him help his clients. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, the California Public Defender’s association, The California DUI Lawyer’s association, and is a member of a National Organization for Defense Resources for handling physical and sexual abuse of children.

Mr. Humphrey has tried over 50 misdemeanor cases to verdict and hundreds of felony cases to verdict. Mr. Humphrey regularly goes to trial on life term cases for sexual abuse and has at least 20 homicide trials under his belt. Mr. Humphrey has tried career criminal, gang, three strikes, burglary, theft, assault, and attempted murders as well as domestic violence and related crimes.
